We encourage students at all grade levels to seek out new experiences while deepening existing interests and talents. Expanding students’ capabilities and comfort zones.
We also believe that a fine education must benefit the larger community, not just individual students. To that end, we offer all students an impressive range of service opportunities. From serving as community helpers, to creating Good Citizenship programs, to joining or starting service-focused clubs, our students make helping others a lifelong practice.

Passions Meet Opportunities
While Brainston School puts an emphasis on academics, clubs play an important role in balancing the lives of students. Our students have the opportunity to participate in activities that help stimulate their academic development and prepare them for life beyond junior high school. Students, with the support of a faculty advisor, are encouraged to join or start clubs in areas of learning about which they are passionate.
A Wide Breadth
Recognizing the diversity of interests in the student body, we offer a wide variety of club opportunities for every student. Clubs range from academics, service, and general interest. Many clubs have a service element or travel and participate in interscholastic competitions. A Club Fair is held in the beginning of every term for students to explore their interests and see which clubs they may wish to join.

Leadership Opportunities
Leadership skills are important life skills. At Brainston, students are exposed to a variety of leadership opportunities that enable them to take risks, build confidence and strengthen relationships with fellow students and members of our school community.
- Leadership groups
Student apply for leadership groups annually and when confirmed, they begin serving our school community by planning school-wide events, running School Meetings, greeting and welcoming visitors, and more.
- Change making opportunities
Student agency paired with coaching and space for reflection, allows students to do far more than you might think. Brainston teachers make it clear to students from a very early age that they are equal contributors to the problem-solving process, and it’s having an impact. Our teachers engage students as agents in their own learning, empowering them to experience meaningful growth opportunities. We know that when kids become problem-finders and innovative solution-generators, their commitment to meaningful citizenship grows—both in their classrooms and beyond.
Parent Association
Brainston School would not exist without our fabulous parents! From the very beginning, parents have generously given tremendous numbers of hours, energy, and resources to support the growth and development of our school.
Parents are welcome to and encouraged to volunteer at Brainston School. Volunteer opportunities range from being committee leads who oversee particular events to spending several hours a week on an ongoing basis or just a few hours on a project. There is something for everyone who is interested in getting involved with supporting our school.
The PA officers and committee co-chairs work hard to promote a sense of community, help to serve as a communication tool between parents and the school’s administration and faculty, and assist with organizing school-wide events
